LOCK-IN
We will have one of our great overnight lock-in’s in the Fellowship Hall. The Youth will gather for the first time in the new year to share fellowship, food, laughs, and fun. This will be a night of movies, games, and maybe eating to0 much. Everyone bring a snack to share, sleeping bag and pillow. Please RSVP by January 3, 2008 so Pastor Lewis will know how many will be there for pizza and soda.

Hit the Beach, because Surf’s UP!
EVERYONE IS INVITED
Come join us for a night of sharing and entertainment as a family in the Fellowship Hall. This month we are having a special BEACH night with a few games between our potluck dinner and watching the film, Surf’s Up. Bring a dish to share at the potluck and your sense of fun as we enjoy the beach in the middle of winter. Please look below for more information.

Renew and Re-energize at this annual event hosted by the Metro D.C. Synod’s Division For Congregational Life. This event is for everyone interested in helping Emmanuel continue to develop and reach our vision of congregational life. The cost of the event is $20 and includes breakfast (8 - 9 a.m.) and lunch. Mall Scavenger Hunt
All youth are invite to meet Pastor Lewis at Montgomery Mall at the top of the escalators in the food court for a Scavenger Hunt. We will begin with lunch, have the hunt and finish with dessert and awards. Bring money for lunch in the food court, Pastor Lewis will treat everyone to ice cream. This is a great event to bring friends.

Fun Bunch Lunch
The Fun Bunch will gather in the Fellowship Hall for lunch and a program. Lunch will be catered, with donations excepted to cover the cost.

Youth Ski Retreat
Come join our annual Youth Ski Retreat as we head off to hit the slopes at Seven Springs. Packets for the ski retreat are available in the narthex. The cost is $170 per person. Adult volunteers are still needed.
January 27, Sunday 11 a.m.
Annual Meeting
All youth should attend this important event in the life of our congregation. Youth who have been confirmed are voting members of the congregation and should participate in the decisions that will steer our congregation for the next year(s).
February 3, Sunday 12:30 - 4 p.m.
Cici’s Pizza and Laser Tag
The Youth will meet at the Cici’s Pizza in the Quince Orchard Shopping Center, located at the corner of Quince Orchard Road and Clopper Road. Afterwards we will walk to Shadowland Laser Tag and play a couple of games. The all-you-can eat buffet at Cici’s is $7 with a drink and laser tag is $15 for two games. Prizes will be awarded after Laser Tag.
February 5, Tuesday 6 - 8 p.m.
Shrove Tuesday Supper
We need all the youth to come out to help with the Shrove Tuesday Supper. We also need some entertainers during the dinner. This event will also be a fund raiser event for future youth programs.

“Winning Isn’t Everything”
This animated feature follows a penguin, Cody Maverick, as he decides to leave his home and follow his dream to become a world class surfer. Along the way he befriends a surfing chicken and an old beach bum who shares wisdom with Cody. It takes some time, but Cody learns that winning isn’t everything. Hope, love, faith, friends and family are what makes life important, not the medals and trophies. Yes, winning is important. But real joy comes from being fully engaged in what we are doing. And hope doesn’t come from calculating whether the good news is winning out over the bad. It is simply a choice to take action for the good.

There is also a chance to break out into some specialized groups with these three, as well as other leaders in areas of congregational life. There are brochures available on the table in the narthex about this wonderful event. You can also contact Pastor Lewis if you would like more information.
The requested RSVP is January 10, 2008. The cost of the event is $20 and includes breakfast (8 - 9 a.m.) and lunch.

Come join us as we celebrate the end of the Epiphany season and prepare for Lent with our Mardi Gras style Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.
This year we will also have our First Annual "Are You Smarter Than a Sunday School Student?"
Tickets are $7 a person or a family ticket for $30 and will go on sale starting January 20, 2008.
Proceeds will go toward the 2009 National Youth Gathering.
